PDT or Potenza Acne
PDT applies a photosensitizing agent to the skin, followed by light, so the whole face can be treated at once. Potenza Acne places insulated needles into individual spots to reach the oil glands directly. Your doctor recommends one or both at consultation.

PDT/Acne ManagementTreatment overview
What is PDT?
PDT stands for photodynamic therapy. A photosensitizing agent is applied to the skin, and then light or a laser of a specific wavelength is directed at it to destroy acne bacteria. It also acts on the sebaceous (oil) glands.
PDT is widely used for acne care. Along with treating acne, it can also help reduce pores, blackheads and sebum production.
What is acne care?
Acne care helps calm skin that has been irritated by breakouts, environmental changes and pollution. It can be done alongside therapeutic treatments such as acne lasers or pigmentation and scar lasers.
Combined with these treatments, acne care helps quickly relieve swelling, pain, inflammation and redness, supporting your results and the ongoing care of acne-prone skin.

PDT/Acne ManagementQ&A
- Q.How is this different from home care?
- At Beauty Z Skin Clinic Myeongdong, our professional skin care staff use sterilized tools, check your skin condition carefully, and perform extraction and regeneration care to prevent secondary inflammation. Forcing out acne that is not yet ready to be extracted can make the condition worse and leave pigmentation. If it is hard to judge your own skin condition, we recommend visiting us for professional care.
- Q.How can I tell comedonal acne from pustular acne?
- Comedonal acne is the earliest form of acne and shows up as small, white, bumpy spots. Because sebum builds up inside the pores, it does not clear easily. Left untreated, the trapped sebum can become inflamed and turn into pustular acne. That is why we recommend care suited to your skin type, based on an accurate diagnosis.
